Beyond the résumé.

Effective communication begins with understanding people. Here’s a little more about who I am outside the newsroom and the statehouse.

Where it started

A bagel shop and a TV

Long before I knew what “political communications” meant, I was wiping down tables at the bagel shop where my dad worked, flipping between news channels.

I watched the people responsible for explaining the decisions of our elected officials and wondered how they did it — how they chose their words, earned trust and reached people who might never read a bill or attend a hearing. That question is still the one that drives me, whether I’m behind a camera, inside a newsroom, developing a brand or shaping a communications strategy.

Scholarship

Morehead-Cain Scholar

Inducted into UNC’s oldest and highest honor society, recognizing leadership and service to the university.

Leadership · NC 4-H

North Carolina 4-H

I’m a proud member of the NC 4-H Honor Club and served as North Carolina 4-H State President from 2021 to 2022. I continue to volunteer with the program today.

Off the Clock

What I’m watching

A few of my favorite shows: Glee, Scandal, Madam Secretary and La Rosa de Guadalupe.

What’s next

I don’t want to master just one medium. I want to understand how ideas become messages, how messages reach audiences, and how great communicators earn people’s attention and trust.

Graduating in December 2026 and looking for opportunities in political communications, media and public affairs in Washington, D.C., New York City, Raleigh and Charlotte.
